We have been telling people for ages that it would only take one monsoon day to re-fill the Singing Lake and it has happened. Well, not actually a monsoon and it is not quite full yet but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good story.
Interestingly, the rainfall for the Granite Belt for the year to date is almost exactly the same as it was at this time in 2020, when we remained in severe drought.
The difference this year is that about 100mm fell in one day.
The lake has taken three years to empty and one day to re-fill!
It is, it is a glorious thing to be a pirate king and also to have the Singing Lake humming Handel’s “Water Music” instead of wallowing in Flanders and Swann’s “Mud, mud, glorious mud”.
